According to Romans chapter 8, all creation groans as it subconsciously awaits the unveiling of the sons of God (which I believe to be the body of Christ here), the catalyst for the deliverance of
the entire creation.
The "all creation" that groans certainly includes animals. I think that animals have a more accurate sense of the times than some humans.
