True spirituality would be welcome in a library; it sits still with its hands folded. It would certainly be passed over for a Christian television feature. The most spiritual thing that a human being can do is believe God. I'm not talking about believing IN God, but BELIEVING God; giving mental assent to statements made by God in Scripture. Comparatively, a pin hitting the ground is
boisterous.
The four most spiritual words I have ever heard contain only eight letters total. It's not the words that are so important, but the miracle of belief behind them. Which isn't to say that the words are superfluous. God likes to hear what people are thinking, and so do I. You will enjoy the context in which I first heard this marvelous string of four
syllables.
When the apostle Paul prays for the saints, he almost always prays that they come to a realization of the truth. Because truth is the root of all else that we would look for in the life of someone professing Christ. Christians seek the opposite. It is not truth that they are so concerned with, but rather any soulish (emotional) demonstration that stirs the blood and outperforms the
Gettysburg Address.
By the time the Christians are finished emoting and (of course), singing, no one can really remember why they came there in the first place. It certainly wasn't for a weighty revelation such as the purpose of the eonian times.
I recorded this message on a Marantz PMD201 Pro Cassette Voice Recorder given to me by Louis Abbot of Stover, MO, in the fall of 1993. It served me well. Today, Rodney Paris serves us all well today by digitizing these 25 year-old messages as quickly as I can get him the tapes.
I especially appreciate the modern video bits that Rodney tacks on the end. This one was recorded in my car in 2018. It's always a surprise to see which clip he picks, and this one really picked me off the ground and sent my spirit away from earth.
I commend this work to you, my fellow saints and friends.
Grace and peace from the edge of the bottom of the peninsula,
Martin
