Jesus Christ rose from the dead so that all humanity would have life, but He was never mortal (He gave up His life) or corruptible. And neither did He ever sin. We of the body of Christ,
however, are mortal, corruptible AND sinners. This makes us a special breed of vivified vessels. Jesus Christ was the first Son of God to be roused from the dead, but we are the first mortal, corruptible, sinning beings to be made alive beyond the reach of death. As such, we are pioneers. As such, we are the firstfruit (from among the dead) of the rest of the mortal and corruptible human race.
