The default setting of the world is conformity. Thus, it requires an act of God to pull anyone away from the desire to be like everyone else. And yet it is God Himself Who makes
conformity the default setting of the world. Thus, God performs one miracle (the giving of faith) to deliver select human beings out of His other miracle (saturating the world with lies). Only God could get away with this.
