Jesus Christ is a stumbling stone in that hundreds of millions of religious people look at Him and ask themselves what they must do to either assist Him or prove themselves to Him. This
is fatal self-righteousness. The proper response to the cross of Christ is to collapse in a heap of thanksgiving. Probably only one in a hundred million do this. It is a gift of God known as the gift of faith.
