"Sanctification" is being set-apart by God. This word is a form of the word "holy" ("set apart") and we are already set apart by God. We are already sanctified. There are certain ways
that sanctified people ought to act, yes, but this is not the same as setting out on a "sanctification program" where we try to conform our flesh to some subjective, man-made definition of morality. Our old humanity was crucified with Christ (Romans 6:6), and it is THIS truth that will keep us from concentrating on our flesh rather than upon Christ.
