It takes a ton of faith to believe that one's old humanity is actually considered, by God, to be dead. This faith can only come from God Himself, so therefore it's a gift. The old humanity is dead,
yet you still live. A strange situation, indeed. Ah yes, but now it's a NEW YOU, even though the old you still stares at you in the mirror. The "trick" is to ignore that reflection and live in the new humanity. This is what Christ died for—for you to be able to do this. To continue slaving for the old humanity is, therefore, an insult to the Christ Who took it to the tomb with Him after writhing for six hours on the cross to destroy it.
