It would be kinda natural for the nations to think: "Now that a new message of grace has come to us on the blessed occasion of mass Israelite failure, it is apparent that God is finished with his
'natural people.'" Paul hears rumblings of this and he's not having it. And so he launches upon what we now know as "Romans chapter 11" to quell for all time the ridiculous notion that God would fulfill His literal promises to Israel in another people.
