Causing Jesus Christ the worst suffering on the cross was the self-righteous acts and supposed feats of independent faith of those who would imagine the cross
to be but an opportunity for them to show Christ what they can accomplish. It was these acts of self-righteousness and self-will that tortured Him the most on the terrible cross, and for which He died.
