Dear Friends,
I love this teaching. This teaching puts a true light on the nature of the relationship between God and Christ. Was God punishing Christ on the cross for our sins? Or was God offering Christ TO us as His acceptable sacrifice for the taking AWAY of sin?
Another way to ask this is: Was Christ taking the penalty of sin that was due us, or was He taking away sin itself? Was He our substitute on the cross, or was He doing something that none of us could have ever accomplished had we been in HIS place? Does a drowning man need a substitute? Someone to drown INSTEAD of him? Or does a drowning man need a strong savior on shore who
is not in his predicament?
I recorded this message 28 years ago in Wagener, SC. This is why the audio glitches in a couple places near the end; it's old. But the message is preserved loud and clear thanks to Rodney Paris of Texas, who has been digitizing my old cassette-taped messages from over twenty-five years ago and setting them to eye-catching video and helpful text frames. Were it not for Rodney, these
tapes would still be sitting in a storage unit in Canton, Ohio, helping no one.
Thanks to all of you for your support of my work. I can't do this alone. The only thing that keeps me going is the generosity of those who want this work to continue. All of the articles and newsletters at my website and all of the over two-thousand videos here on YouTube are free for the taking. If you like what you watch or read—if it helps you in some way—and you want to help the
guy who is writing and recording, you can donate to this work. I want to make this clear, however: NO ONE HAS TO DONATE ANYTHING TO THIS WORK. The material is free whether one helps or not. But I am on the record as saying: I don't require contributions, but I've never yet turned one down. 😄
Thank you from the bottom of my heart—from the edge of the bottom of the Floridan peninsula.
Yours because of grace,
Martin
