It is easy to level the complaint against God: "You just really didn't tell us very much about our future." But not only did God tell us about it, He acted it out in three dimensions using one of His most famous servants: Joseph.
The Joseph account is the template of a promise, followed by trial, followed by exceeding glory. Christ Himself read the Joseph account to steel Himself during His difficult sojourn here on earth and to consider Joseph's subsequent glory as a template of His own future. Even Christ knew that Joseph was a type of Christ.
Thus, Joseph is also a template of the body of Christ. God's pattern is consistent. Again, 1) a promise, 2) an apparent dashing of the promise during times of great trial where faith is granted and exercised, and 3) the guaranteed outcome, to accord with the promise: great glory.
But there is one aspect of the Joseph account that, heretofore, has gone unexplored. It is what happened AFTER he was elevated to power in Egypt, and AFTER he had revealed himself to his astonished and
terrified brothers.
I have never heard this aspect of the Joseph account highlighted before, nor had I ever considered it until about a week ago. I present it for your consideration
today on this edition of MZTV.
