Dear Fellow Believers,
This was our last night of Grace Café. Grace Café was a live radio show broadcast from Cleveland,
Ohio in the summer of 1999. Six of us who attended a regular Bible study at the home of Mike and Denise Telep of North Royalton, Ohio, had bought five weeks of radio time at WCCD, the largest Christian radio station in Cleveland, broadcasting at 1100 A.M. on your radio dial.
I was determined that we would end our stint with a bang. The original plan, agreed upon by all of us the night before, was to
end on a happy, light note, with each of us giving our testimonies. But I'd been convicted by God before going to bed that night that we would better serve our audience—and our Lord—by teaching right to the end. And not only teaching, but teaching what no one could argue would be the two most offensive topics to a Christian radio station: 1) Christianity is an evil, man-made religion, and 2) Christianity heads the end-time Beast of Revelation.
At the conclusion of the first hour (our show was two-hours long), I decided to unleash a piece I'd written in which Jesus Christ returns, anonymously, to a Christian church. He finds the church in the same condition He found the Pharisaic system of the first century---only worse.
My wife and sister had been listening to the broadcast
from the lobby of the station, where a speaker broadcast the show. At the commercial break, they burst into the studio with tears in their eyes, saying how powerful the segment was, and that it was a wonder that we had not yet been bodily removed from the station.
I will talk about the second hour of this broadcast next week.
On the hour-and-a-half drive back home, my wife and I saw one of the most amazing displays of lightning we'd ever seen. For the entire drive, the sky was alight with repeated lightning strokes. I've never seen anything like it before or since. I believed then, and I still believe, that God was marking, with a celestial sign, the going forth of His Word with power. It will not return to Him void.
Rodney Paris of Texas has taken the audio cassette of this show, digitized it, and added video and text frames to make for a powerful multimedia presentation. Rodney is a soldier for Christ.
Thank you to all who support this work, which has been ongoing for thirty years now. The Word of God continues to go forth with power, thanks to you all.
Grace and peace from the Floridan Peninsula,
---Martin
