In September of 1984, my wife Marcia saved me from becoming a Christian.
Jack and Joan Stockdale of Washington D.C. were mega-Christians and, while my wife and I were staying
at their home for a couple days at the end of our trans-America bicycle trip, the Stockdales made me an offer that I almost couldn't refuse. Two months later, after Marcia and I had returned home and had settled into a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, Jack and Joan drove out to visit us. I thought it was a mere social visit.
Nope.
