The thing keeping people enslaved to institutions is fear: fear of becoming godless, fear of destruction, fear of disease, fear of loss, fear of loneliness, fear of death. Every human institution, whether medical, governmental, personal, financial, or educational—keeps you in their thrall via fear. The human institutions manufacture the fear, amplify it, then goad you with it again and again to keep you coming to the institution for “safety.” The tragic irony is that people are in greater danger in these institutions than outside of them. That’s the dirty little secret. The remedy? Christ.
