Dear Fellow Believers,
This is another beautiful show from 1999, from the studios of
WCCD, Cleveland, Ohio. Six radio amateurs, including myself, went on mainstream Christian radio to broadcast truths that, before then, had never gone forth on Christian radio. On this, the second hour of our first night, we continued on the theme of subjection to evil government—only this time looking to our Lord as an example.
At the 26-minute mark of this video, something remarkable
happens. I had just finished a rousing "What If" scenario picturing contemporary, politically-minded Christians being present at the trial of Christ and, by means of great organizational zeal, megaphones, and a petition, managing to free Jesus. All this to the tune of "Pick Up The Pieces" by Average White Band. What followed is a lengthy contemplative segment where all of us at the table entertain the unthinkable possibility of Jesus never going to the cross.
I have never heard such quiet and meditative discourse on the radio—not before that and not since. It was like we were no longer on the air in front of a potential audience of a million people, but rather in Denise Telep's living room. Twenty-five years after recording this, I was on the edge of my seat listening to it, hanging on every word.
God and Christ get the glory here, for which I am thankful to my Lord and Savior. He had shown all of us, in our own ways and at our own times, the inability of flesh and blood to do the things of God.
Thank you, Rodney Paris, for rescuing the cassette tape from a storage unit in Canton, Ohio, where it has been languishing for over twenty
years.
And thanks to YOU, my viewers, my subscribers, my friends, my fellow members of the body of Christ, for helping me keep this work alive all these years. I know who you are, and I keep each one of you at the forefront of my thoughts and prayers whenever I converse with God.
Remaining your servant in the Lord and brother in Christ,
—Martin
