In 2007 there was an awful report circulating among Body-of-Christ types claiming that the second death was not only figurative, but was a divine educational tool that would bring billions of people up to speed on the evils of self-confidence and the opposing wonderments of God. A believer named Phil Scranton became infected by this death-glorifying heresy to the point that he wrote his own report titled, "The Second Death," where he claimed, among other things, that the second death would provide parents another opportunity to raise their babies. In other words, the second death would right all wrongs.

I was aware of these reports in 2007 and became sickened by them because of the way they glorified death. Paul called death "an enemy," yet these gentlemen were making death a miraculous agency of spiritual change. To get there, these fanciful reports ignored both laws of language and laws of Scriptural interpretation. Additionally, the authors of the reports demonstrated an alarming ignorance of the very definition of death.

I used the 2007 Willard, Ohio conference as my opportunity to expose the lies of these reports. I specifically exposed Phil Scranton's booklet, "The Second Death." This may not have been so remarkable except that Phil Scranton himself was in the front row at the conference.

P.S. In 2007 I believed that everyone judged at the Great White Throne would be sent to the second death. I no longer believe this way. I believe that there ARE names written in the Lamb's Book of Life and, in fact, most people will NOT go to the lake of fire, but will rather have their part on the New Earth. The lake of fire is reserved for the truly evil of all eras, such as Jezebel, Adolf Hitler, Hillary Clinton, and Billy Graham.
