Dear Fellow Believers,
I love this show. Wow, what a hard-hitter. We are definitely firing on all cylinders here in Studio B at WCCD Studios in Cleveland, Ohio. The date? July 15, 1999. The topic? Paul's gospel to the nations as distinguished from Peter's gospel to Israel.
I haven't heard this show in twenty years,
and so I forgot that I took a little Casio keyboard into the studio in order to demonstrate Galatians 2:7. This was really funny! But when you see the video that Rodney puts to it, well, it's even funnier. But funny isn't the point. This little demonstration is perfectly illustrative of the two gospels and the proper way to interpret Galatians 2:7. Thank you, Rodney. Thank you, Casio.
A couple of times during this show, our producer Ricardo Johnson advertises the
guest coming onto the "Summer Nights" program the following week, when we're off. It's some professor of religion from the Ashland Theological Seminary. You can hear the lilt in Ricardo's voice, the joy as he anticipates a week off from the heresies of grace cafe, and being once again awash in the godless traditions of men posing as spiritual enlightenment. Poor Ricardo.
At one point in this exceptional show, Charlie Cronk and I join forces to discuss the justification of
Abraham, comparing the patriarch's experience to Peter's experience at Pentecost. How was Abraham justified? By repenting? By being baptized? By avowing or confessing his sins? No! By faith. Simply by sitting on a tree stump and believing God.
You gonna love it.
Thanks again, Rodney, for another fine presentation. The video is soothing and complements the audio like Casio complements Galatians 2:7.
Thank YOU, members of the
body of Christ, for you are the ones who, in 1999, made these 25 broadcasts possible, and you are the ones, TODAY, who keep me going twenty-five years down the road. God has inspired you, and God inspires me THROUGH you. I love you and thank you from the bottom of my heart, from the bottom of the peninsula.
Grace, peace, and love,
—Martin
