Dear Fellow Believers,
Denise Telep gets the ball rolling by saying that, if Jesus Christ left it up to us to save ourselves, then His words from the cross would not have been, "It is finished," but rather, "It is started." Wow. Killer point. But of course I had to add my two-cents by adding, "Or He would have said, 'It is now
possible.'"
The Grace Cafe table puts up two convincing analogies of God's control and human reaction to God's control, namely thunder and lightning, and the wind blowing the leaves of a tree. Like the wind, God's power is invisible. Yet we clearly see the effects of His power. And anyone who says that thunder could occur apart from the pre-requisite of lightning, is blind to the natural law of cause and effect.
I challenge anyone to call our show who think
they have a verse proving human free will. No one calls. Of course I pre-empt the opening up of the phone lines with, "Please don't think that offering up a verse showing people DOING things is a verse proving human FREE will. The damning word in the phrase 'free will' is not the word 'will,' but the word 'free.' Human beings will things constantly, but you will not find a single verse proving that anyone can do this independently of God. Because Human Free Will requires complete independence
from God."
Can you imagine ANYONE calling in and insisting upon complete independence from God?
I love the video Rodney picked to end the presentation with. It's the "99.99% Syndrome" video of eleven years ago, recorded in Windber, PA. This is one of my most popular videos. Rodney chose well, as this Crack O' Dawn Report from 2013 gels nicely with a radio broadcast showing human free will to be impossible. Do we choose Christ, or does Christ choose us? Seems
like kind of a simple question to answer.
Thank you to Rodney Paris who put a lot of things on hold this weekend in order to work on this Grace Cafe presentation. And thanks to all of you who support our work and keep us encouraged so that we can keep providing consequential material for the body of Christ. This is a good video to send to your friends and loved ones who might be on the fence about Free Will. After all, we are taking the truth of the sovereignty of God to a
mainstream Christian radio station, Christianity being famous for boasting in the independence of their decisions, especially the decision to follow Christ. Who whose whom? Indeed, that is the question.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, from the bottom of the peninsula,
—Martin
