Those of the Israel gospel claw and scrap against their sinful natures, while those of Paul’s gospel come to further and deeper realizations of who they are in Christ. Peter’s is a gospel of doing, while Paul’s is a gospel of being. The Circumcision people repent every fifteen minutes, whereas Paul’s people
recognize the old humanity to have been crucified, making repentence for salvation irrelevant and, really, a slap in the face of Christ.
The terrestrial Jesus, on earth, said, “Many are called, but few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14). The celestial Christ said, through Paul, that believers are chosen first, THEN called (Romans 8:30). The fighters MAKE their
calling happen, the resters LET it happen.
Here is a memorable analogy that will illustrate for you the vast gulf between the gospel of striving and the gospel of resting.
