Dear Fellow Believers,
The Grace Cafe crew hammers home the sovereignty of God. Not one orthodox pastor or teacher called in to challenge us. We had so many Scriptures on our side so as to make our position impossible to refute on Scriptural grounds.
I quote Bob Larson's "New Book of Cults" to prove that Christianity
itself is a cult. Larson, who is a Christian, warns his readers about organizations that discourage logical thinking. The irony is that the Christian religion is a primary offender along this line, trying to convince anyone stupid enough to listen that God can be in "total control" and that humans can have "total freedom"—all at the same time.
Does God "look ahead" to see what people are going to do, and then predestinate them as a reaction to what He is seeing? This is
a classic Christian time game to try to make the truth of predestination fit with the lie of human free will. It doesn't work. Because if God is back there in "His time" looking ahead to "our time," then He still has to wait and see what we will do before He can "predestine" any of us. But this is not PRE-destination at all. It is POST-destination based on a divine reaction to HUMAN decision.
1 Kings chapter 22 and Isaiah chapter 10 are called upon as perfect illustrations of
human beings on the stage of life being UNAWARE of the control of God. These chapters offer beautiful backstage glimpses into the true operation of God as He actually makes humans do what they do.
I had not yet developed my "Christian God" voice (this was the summer of 1999), but I do give a pretty good riff on the Christian God being frustrated at His inability to control people. This riff alone is worth the price of admission.
I hope you enjoy this
broadcast. I love re-listening to these. The truth is timeless. Rodney Paris has brought these analog broadcasts back to life from twenty-five years of slumber in a storage unit in Canton, Ohio. Now they are being watched by an entire new generation, by people who were not even born when these broadcasts happened in 1999. To one and to all I would like to say: Only as we realize that God is in control of His universe can we know true peace.
Thanks to all of you for your love
for me personally and your support of this work. We are fellow-laborers in the Lord.
From the peninsula,
