Before He left this earth, Jesus told His disciples to go and shepherd all the nations, baptizing them “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy spirit,” and teach these nations to follow Jesus’ directives. (Matthew 28:19-20). Yet, when we read the book of Acts, not one disciple of our Lord’s does any of this. Why don’t they? Did Jesus overestimate their
ability? Did they drastically fail their Lord and Master? No. It is because of the LAST thing Jesus said to them concerning what Christianity has come to call, “The Great Commission.” Here is that last thing, which is the key to the entire passage.
