"Know God!" is the cry. "Would that everyone could know God!" But according to Paul in Romans chapter 1, knowing God is not enough. This ought to be self-evident, as even Satan knows God. Here is Paul's explanation—
"For God's indignation is being revealed from heaven on all the irreverence and injustice of men who are retaining the truth in injustice, because that which is known of God is apparent among them, for God manifests it to them. For His invisible attributes are descried from the creation of the world, being apprehended by His achievements, besides His imperceptible power and divinity, for them to be defenseless, because, knowing God,
not as God do they glorify or thank Him, but vain were they made in their reasonings, and darkened is their unintelligent heart. Alleging themselves to be wise, they are made stupid" (Romans 1:18-22).
"Knowing God, not as God do they thank or glorify Him."
We are acquainted with many people in the world who do not glorify God as God, let alone know Him. Yet, on this very channel, we learn of those who do know God, but who do not now glorify and thank Him AS God. And why is this? Because they reason, hypothesize, and opine about God rather than simply believe His powerful declarations. (This they do vainly, becoming unintelligent in the process.) They filter the truth of God's
Almightiness and His carrying out of all things by His powerful declaration—they filter this truth through their own opinions of how the universe SHOULD be, or how it would be were they the Deity.
Knowing God AS God requires a knowledge of Him as the Subjector of all, for thus the title "God" ("El" in the Hebrew) means "Subjector." And yet we
find that a good portion of the human population is offended that God should have such power and control over them. It does not seem right to them that this should be so. It hardly makes sense to them that life would or could have meaning as long as THEY are accounted as relatively nothing (Daniel 4:35).
They want a piece of the pie.
Until this continent realizes that God is the entire pie and that life exists to glorify Him rather than His creation, the shock of a lifetime awaits them at the Great White Throne when, for the first time in their lives, they will be introduced to the Godness of God.
It's not like I haven't tried down HERE.
