Why was Mother Teresa poor? Because the order of sisters she belonged to told her that she must be. Why was she humble? Because the order demanded it. Why did she ceaselessly beg for forgiveness? It was a box that she had to check to belong to the Catholic cult known as The Missionaries of Charity. Nothing that Mother Teresa did—nothing—resulted from a spontaneous move of the spirit of God within her. It was all by rote. This is why spiritual bankruptcy dogged her every step. At the end of her life, she doubted even the existence of God. This is the end-game of all religious exercise, for Satan inspires such exercise. Mother Teresa confessed that she had no love. This is because the spirit of God—whose first fruit is love—was absent from her. Here is what I would have done for the miserable "saint" of Calcutta.
