Greetings, Fellow Members of the Body of Christ,
I really do love the book of Hebrews. It's my favorite book of Scripture not directed to the body of Christ.
In the first of two shows in this presentation, we learn (as if we didn't know) that Israel is Israel is Israel. As we watch this nation throughout Scripture, we hope to see
improvement. We hope to see a learning from mistakes. No. None of the above. This nation continues to commit the sins of her forefathers. The history of this people certainly makes a case for the fact that, "Unless God does it, it ain't getting done."
The rest of this production, really, focuses on the wonderful truth Paul is pushing upon the Hebrews, that they have a Chief priest who is able to sympathize with their infirmities. I introduce this truth in Show 18, but really
dive into it in 19. I think one of the most important things said in this show, however, is, “Priesthood is a standing symbol of distance and alienation from God.” Wow. That is so true. We think of priesthood as the greatest calling ever, the greatest THING ever, but come to find out, in OUR gospel, we don't need a priesthood, we have no priests among us, because we have direct access to God.
Show 19. It is hard for us to imagine that the great Son of God is able to relate to
infirmities. But He so is! God caused Him to be so humble and to experience our hardships. Was Christ really tempted? Of course He was. How can you resist temptation if there is no temptation. It must be real. Christ's temptations were not theoretical. This is one of the shocks of Hebrews: The temptations of Christ were real. This means the He would had to have THOUGHT about sinning, considered the pleasures and consequences of sinning, but never once sinned. Do thoughts, therefore, count as
sinning? There is a fine line here, but I would have to say that the answer is "no."
The Garden of Gethsemane is a good example of this.
This presentation ends with the beautiful truth: “The most powerful Being in the universe is the most merciful Being in the universe.” That is the greatest blessing there is. Because think of the nightmare otherwise.
Thanks to all of you who support this work with your contributions. This work could not
and would not continue without you. This is what I do full-time. Since 1993, I have put all my efforts into this work. I didn't want to do it halfway. I remember thinking to myself in 1993 that these truths were worth a full-time soldier proclaiming them. I laid myself out in trust of God. This, with a wife and three young children. God came through for me, and has come through every month for 33 years. Thanks to the grace He puts in your hearts for this work and for His worker, every month is a
miracle,
Grace, peace, and love to you from the peninsula,
Martin
