One of the most treacherous mistranslations in the King James Bible is 1 Corinthians 2:14, "The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God." If a person can't learn about God using NATURAL means (such as thinking and logic), then UNNATURAL means must be applied, such as the "flowing in the
spirit" promoted by the Kingdom/Overcomer/Pentecost/Israel crowd, who label us as "intellectual literalists" even while THEY bend and shape the Word of God to be whatever they want it to be.
The proper translation of 1 Corinthians 15:24, from the Concordant Literal New Testament, is, "The SOULISH man is not receiving those things which are of the
spirit of God." This is obviously correct, as the Greek word "pseuchikon" is employed here, the noun of which, "pseuche," means "soul."
Thus, there is nothing wrong with using one's mind and intellect. It is a mind and intellect RULED BY THE EMOTIONS RATHER BY THE SPIRIT that is the problem. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans
12:2), not the removal of them.
