A couple of commenters on yesterday's show were speaking as though logic were anti-God and Christ; as though logic were the enemy of true spirituality.
I've been
fighting this wrong-headed thinking for three decades. How many times have I been told, "You're too intellectual," or "You're too logical," or, "Stop using your natural mind." As though truth just somehow magically appears under our pillows at night, along with a nickel from the Tooth Fairy.
God is logical. He chose language as the means of revealing
Himself. God follows His own laws of language and rules of Scriptural interpretation. This is great news for those of us who want to get as far away from possible from the old Christian way of thinking which was, basically, "Leave your brain at the door of the church."
It is CHRISTIANITY that is illogical, not God. Christians are the ones telling us
that God loves His creation, yet will eternally torment the majority of them. They tell us that 1 + 1+1= 1 (TheTrinity). Then they tell us that God is in "complete control of the world"—even as 8 billion people each have sovereign, untouchable wills.
Is it any wonder, then, when I seek to correct viewers of this show who seem to be setting aside logic
for the sake of—what? Illogic? I have yet to figure out the alternative to orderly, rational thought.
