Christian theology gets just about everything wrong, including the idea that God must punish sinners. Is God so stupid? When it's time to deal with the sin issue, what good what it be to punish sinners? How does that eliminate the problem? Or is God just the angry type?
God sent Christ to take away Sin. Ah! Here is the truth. God was not punishing His Son for Sin, and neither was Christ a substitute for sinners, as though punishing Him instead of them would resolve the issue. No, but rather, "God was in Christ conciliating the world to Himself" (2 Corinthians 5:19).
Christ was the means by which God removed Sin, causing Sin to attach itself to Him (this was a strategy, not a punishment), taking Sin to the tomb, and then raising Christ without it.
It turns out that God loves not only His Son, but us too. There is no suggestion of either anger or
punishment anywhere at Calvary. Hm. Who would have guessed?
