I did not let on yesterday how devastated I was at the cold-blooded murder of a beautiful and patriotic family man named Charlie Kirk. But today, I can't hold back my disappointment at the comments of a man on yesterday's show who, despite all his years in contact with Scripture, STILL does not believe that
God is Sovereign on the throne of the universe but, rather, believes that, where evil is concerned, it "ALL" (his word) comes down to the human perpetrators of evil, and NOT to the One who actually claims that all is of Him (2 Corinthians 5:18).
"I do not see God doing all the evil."
"This is on evil men, NOT God."
"God did NOT plan for some monster to assassinate Charlie Kirk."
"The [murder] is ALL on the
assassin."
"I do not see God dictating how many lashes Jesus received."
This, in spite of Scripture saying, "All IS of God" (2 Corinthians 5:18).
This, in spite of Scripture saying, "For I am El, and there is no other! Elohim! and no other like Me! Telling from the beginning, the hereafter, And from aforetime what has not yet been done, Saying, 'All My counsel, it shall be confirmed, And all My desire shall I do" (Isaiah 46:9-10).
This, in spite of Scripture saying, "God is operating ALL in accord with the counsel of His own will" (Ephesians 1:11).
This, in spite of Scripture saying, "All those abiding on the earth are reckoned as naught; according to His will− He is doing with the army of the heavens and with
those abiding on the earth. And there is not one who shall stay His hand and say to Him, What have You done? " (Daniel 4:35).
This, in spite of Scripture saying, "Shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?" (Amos 3:6).
The commenter's reason for not believing these plain Scriptural declarations?
"Just sharing my thoughts."
"Just sharing my view."
lf there is one thing I have been hammering these past few weeks, it is believing God. It is, "Let God be true though every man a liar." It is abandoning one's own thoughts and one's own views and letting God speak. I have encouraged one and all, not just in these past weeks but for 33 years now, to stop running God's clear statements through the filters of our own private opinions,
thoughts, viewpoints, and interpretations. Certainly, if we were God, we would do things differently. But we are not God. Our opinions are not God.
I will not and do not take this personally, though, as a teacher, I am tempted to. It's just that I mourn for God. Does this make sense? I am speaking completely as a man here. I mourn for a Deity who
strains to make Himself known, Who strains to present Himself for what He is and what He does, a God Who, in no uncertain terms claims again and again and again and again to be the Sovereign of the universe through Whom ALL things occur, and because of Whom all things occur. A God Who called upon a few rare human beings to record these important truths, who were then killed (most of them) for recording them. Then, in spite of this, to hear a man who claims to be a friend of God say, in
essence, "No, you DON'T do everything. Not even close."
I'm heartbroken over that. I'm heartbroken for God and for the men who gave their lives recording God's most personal, truest declarations.
I love the man
who made the comments, and I'm sure he's not the only one who simply cannot believe what God says about Himself. And of course, ultimately, it is only God Who can give the belief required to believe Him to this man and to others. This is why I am not condemnatory. I am mystified, disappointed, heartbroken. It really does break my heart as though someone has been murdered. But in this case, the victim is God Himself.
My sincerest prayer is that this commenter and any others who still cannot believe that God does according to His will with those abiding on earth, and that if evil occurs in a city, then GOD has done it, will change their minds and repent of their own viewpoints and their own opinions to embrace the admittedly difficult but essential truth that all, indeed, is of God.
If I can be of service to this end, then any friendships I have risked in the pursuit of this service will have been worth it. I am persuaded of great things concerning all of us.
