Water baptism today is a throwback to a different era. There was a time to be baptized, just as there was a time to build an ark and bring your sheep to the temple to get your sins forgiven.
Water baptism is out of timing today during the era of nations when God is at peace with the world through the crucifixion of Christ, who took the old humanity to the tomb with Him and rose from the dead without it.
Even back in the day, water baptism was merely symbolic. There was nothing magic or spiritual about
the water. It simply identified you with a particular person, a movement, or a truth. Today, that truth is being baptized into the death of Christ (Romans 6:3). It is a spiritual baptism that does not require water. Few know about it. And I mean—few.
But of course, the current religious revival on the heels of the assassination of Charlie Kirk is
bringing water baptisms out of the woodwork. Everyone wants to get baptized. Why? Because this is a revival of works and public display, not spirit. It is a joining of the Jesus club. Unfortunately, the Jesus they are worshipping is the different Jesus warned of by Paul (2 Corinthians 11:4). It is not the Jesus who actually took away the sins of the world at the cross.
Speaking of Paul, this man was embarrassed and regretful that he'd baptized anyone. This is because the Lord did not commission him to baptizing but to be announcing the evangel of Christ (1 Corinthians 1:17).
Nobody needs blow-dried after THAT.
