Certainly it required faith for Christ to go to the cross. But there was an event in His life requiring many, many times more faith—more faith, indeed, than any normal human being could possibly muster; appalling amounts of faith. Paul calls it "emptying Himself" (Philippians 2:7). This has been and remains the most under-appreciated sacrificial act of Christ.
The enemies of Christ's pre-Bethlehem glories claim that those of us who know, appreciate, and celebrated these glories demean His faith on earth by saying He predated Bethlehem. They imagine that it was somewhat easier for Him, knowing where He came from---as though not having come from anywhere would inspire a remarkable faith. How could it, when we hold
this in common with a non-preexistent Christ, that is, having come from nowhere.
No, but the remarkable nature of Christ's faith DEPENDS on Him having a glory with the Father before the world was. And so today I present the most remarkable exercise of faith in universal history, a faith that, thanks to the enemies of this truth, remains the most unknown
faith of Christ.
