Greetings, Fellow Members of the Body of Christ,
We continue with the Hebrews Series from 2013, recorded in its entirety from the home of Clyde Pilkington in Windber, Pennsylvania.
The problem with Israel is that they had every single advantage. The reason that's a problem is because they failed to take advantage of their
advantages. (We know, of course, that this was by divine design.) More advantages = more accountability. Relatively speaking, this is how God operates. According to the plan, Israel must respond to all her advantages. The fun fact about us members of the body of Christ is that we have nothing but disadvantages and yet overwhelming floods of grace come at us from God's throne of grace. No one could have anticipated a gospel like Paul's to come to the nations.
In the next show, Show 24,
I talk about "grieving the holy spirit," or as the Concordant Version says, "Causing sorrow to the holy spirit of God." This is figurative. The holy spirit of God is not a THING, it's the power of God. The holy spirit of God is actually a figure of Association for God Himself. You can't literally make God cry. God does not have tear ducts. My take on this is that Paul is speaking of the conscience. God's spirit works in conjunction with conscience; the conscience is actually the spirit of God in
operation within us.
Somehow I get onto the topic of, “Let no tainted word be issuing out of your mouth” (Ephesians 4:29). These "tainted words" Paul speaks of have nothing to do with so-called curse words. A tainted word, in the context, is a word that tears down rather than builds up. I can tear someone down without using a single four-letter world, and yet I can build someone up using nothing BUT four-letter words: "Shit man, your ass did an awesome goddamn job on that
fucking test." I rest my fucking case.
Christians obsess over four-letter words, superstitiously avoiding them, even while tearing down the entire world with the most tainting sayings ever to emerge from human throats:
“Your mother is in hell”
“You have to go to church or God doesn’t love you.”
Here's an edifying sentence: "You are saved by fucking grace no matter fucking what."
Christian philosophy: Clean the outside
of the cup; who cares what’s underneath.
Rodney's bonus material comes from one of the tracks from the only CD I've ever produced, "Part-Time Sinner." The liberating message of this particular track is: “Walking according to flesh has to do with disposition.” The track is titled, "Bad Boy David." Details to follow at the end of this video.
Thanks to all of you who have supported this work. This work is a product of the care and love of the body of Christ. I have never
experienced anything like the love and generosity of the body in all my life. I can't wait to spend the eons and all of eternity with you, my brothers and sisters.
