Dear Fellow Believers,

I confess that I, myself, have not seen this video yet. I was otherwise occupied on Saturday and it was not  until 9 p.m.—a mere fifteen minutes before my precious bedtime—that I realized I was supposed to edit this. The only time editing is truly required is when Rodney writes (he confesses to being a notorious speller), and Rodney assured me that there was not much of his writing in this one. So I just dipped into it to see what was going on, and—WHO IS THIS GUY?

My goodness, I barely recognized myself. I see that I'm entering my "Sgt. Pepper" phase, except I'm adding a beard to the mustache. What is happening with my hair? I'm letting it go Liberace-style. I know I've just mixed the Beatles with a gay, classical pianist, but that's the kind of mood I'm in.

I'm still trying to assess for sure whether I'm at my house or at Dean Hough's place in Almont, MI. After I watch the whole video, I'm sure I'll be able to figure that out.

What does Huck Finn have to do with any of this? I loved reading "Huckleberry Finn" and "Tom Sawyer" out loud to the kids and, being a Mark Twain fan myself, I've often said to anyone who would listen that Mark Twain, being a great despiser of organized religion, would have been a great fan of my material. So I wondered what would happen if Twain's premier creation, Huckleberry Finn, came to believe in the salvation of all.

So I let Huck fill in for me one day in my newsletter, "The Idle Babbler Illustrated," and the kid just took off on the salvation of all and put to rest any doubts that the doctrine of eternal torment was a teaching of satanic construct. Truly, God chooses the unwise, weak, ignoble, and stupid! Even Tom Sawyer understood some of what Huck wrote about the poor ways in which the King James Version translated the Greek words "hades," "tartarus," and "Gehenna."
